Insert Scripture

In a note, enter a reference such as John 3:16 or 1 Peter 1:1-2 on a separate line. Put the cursor at the end and press Return. A valid reference is replaced with Scripture from your selected Bible.

Margin supports single verses and ranges within one chapter. Invalid references remain as typed text. Chapter-only and cross-chapter references are not yet supported.

Edit and highlight a passage

Tap a passage to change its reference or translation. Highlight individual verses in the passage sheet. Reading mode displays your Markdown with formatting.

Bible translations

BSB is included and always works offline. Open Bible library to download WEB or ASV and select a default for new passages. Removing a downloaded Bible keeps Scripture already saved in your notes.

Back up and share notes

Use the note’s Share action to export Markdown, including the full text of inserted Scripture. Save important exports in Files or your preferred backup location. Margin does not currently synchronize notes between devices or import Markdown files.

Delete notes

Swipe a note in the notebook to delete it. Deletion cannot be undone. Removing the app removes its local notes and downloads; export anything you want to keep first. Device backups are managed by your Apple settings.
